Thematic 2 Object
For the theme of object I looked two still life photographers David Levinthal and Zeke Berman.
David Levinthal is well know for his use of still life to explore fantasy, myths, as well as modern world mentality. When looking at is photos I focused on his barbie album. I found his use of such an iconic image for most American girls to be his subject and use of them that gave them such a unique personality fascinating and inspiring. A lot of his work with dolls show how they have become sexualised object with in our society.

Zeke Berman was born in 1951 in New York and by 1973 had a bachelors in Fine Arts Philadelphia college of Art. In the late 1970’s he started photographing sculptures and then shifted focus on to the image. Berman is well known for his creative use of ice, string as well as other materials in his work. I found his work with the candy to be something that stood out to me. It is something that many people enjoys as kind and I find his use of it interacting with the world to be thought provoking and fun to look at.
Even though both of these photographers are very different I enjoyed the playfulness of their images. That fun quality was something I wanted to emulate in my own still life work. Inspired by David Levinthal’s I knew that I wanted photograph toys and the idea of play. This is what I started out with.
After a little bit of look around of what toys I could uses I found these DC super hero figures and cars. As I started working with them I wanted to crate a story with them. This ended up to be what I used as my finish product. My idea of the story was the Justice League was form and grew. Then Batman and Superman go to fight the Joker who was up to now good as per normal, after awhile Batman and Superman end up fight and only one of them is the victor.
